Wrinkles and fine lines

anti-aging.jpg

As we age, our skin loses elasticity and volume, leading to the development of fine lines and wrinkles. This can be managed.

Key Points

  1. Manageable

  2. No need for invasive treatments such as surgery or skin lifts

  3. Focus on the natural beauty that comes with aging, don’t focus too much on fillers.

Wrinkles

The common types of wrinkles:

  1. Forehead wrinkles: Horizontal lines that form on the forehead and can be caused by repeated facial expressions like raising the eyebrows.

  2. Crow's feet: Fine lines that form at the corners of the eyes and are often referred to as "laugh lines."

  3. Frown lines: Vertical lines that form between the eyebrows and are often caused by frowning or squinting.

  4. Nasolabial folds: Deep lines that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth and are also known as "smile lines."

  5. Marionette lines: Vertical lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the jawline and can give the appearance of a sad or downturned mouth.

  6. Smile lines: Fine lines that form around the lips and can be caused by repeated smiling or smoking.

  7. Lip wrinkles: Fine lines that form around the mouth and can be caused by sun exposure and the natural aging process.

Common causes for wrinkles

  1. Sun exposure: UV rays from the sun can damage the skin, leading to premature aging and the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

  2. Genetics: Some people are more prone to developing wrinkles due to their genes, which can affect skin elasticity and the aging process.

  3. Smoking: Smoking can reduce blood flow to the skin and damage collagen and elastin, leading to premature aging and the development of wrinkles.

  4. Poor diet: A diet that is low in vitamins and minerals can contribute to the aging process and the development of wrinkles.

  5. Stress: High levels of stress can increase cortisol levels in the body, leading to skin damage and the development of wrinkles.

  6. Facial expressions: Repeated facial expressions like smiling, frowning, and squinting can lead to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles over time.

  7. Dehydration: Dry skin is more prone to wrinkles, so it's important to stay hydrated and use moisturizing products to maintain skin hydration.

  8. Aging: Developing wrinkles is a natural part of aging. as we continue to age, our skin loses elasticity, volume and hydration.

  9. Rapid Weight Loss: Rapid weight loss may cause a loss of volume in the skin. While wrinkles of this nature may be temporary, some may stay long term.

Treatments for Wrinkles

Dysport / Botox

Two brand names for the botulinum toxin, these injectables are common treatments for wrinkles which help by relaxing the underlying facial muscles which cause the lines to appear.

Profhilo

Profhilo® is a patented technology of bio-remodelling injectable. It is the first “injectable skincare” that addresses skin laxity and signs of aging through the bio-stimulation of collagen, elastin and adipocytes (fats) stem cells that are lost through skin aging.

Thermage

Thermage is a non-invasive skin-tightening treatment that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to stimulate collagen production and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The Thermage machine delivers RF energy to the skin using a special handpiece that is passed over the treatment area.

Utherapy

Ultherapy® is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared, non-invasive face lifting treatment using ultrasound energy to stimulate the production of collagen.

The treatment targets the dermis and underlying fibromuscular layer that holds the skin in place, without needles, cutting or disturbing the surface of the skin.

Ultraformer III

ULTRAFORMER III uses HIFU-powered transducers to deliver concentrated waves of ultrasound into multiple layers of skin without making direct contact with surrounding areas. Transferring stabilized temperatures of 65-75°C into the targeted zones, the ULTRAFORMER III aims to induce a process of neocollagenesis in the face.
